Three Big Sources of New Customers on the Internet
(and a fourth that you may be staring you in the face...)

You have a web site and now you want people to visit it right? So where are you going to find them?

Well the first thing you should do is make sure that all your existing marketing messages and communications (newsletters, business cards, flyers etc) have your web site address on them.

Next, I want to introduce you to what I consider to be the 'big three' of places to find new customers.

Search Engines & Directories - When people are actively looking for something, most times they will start with a search engine like Google or a directory like Yahoo, Whitepages etc. If you are serious about your web site then you need to do some work to make sure it can be found via search engines and directories. Now there is a whole industry built up over the last 10 years that offers 'Search Engine Optimisation' or SEO services. [more about search engine marketing]

Online Auctions - Millions of people a day have their eyeballs glued to online auction sites like ebay, tradingpost, craigs list and ozauction. Guess what they are on the internet and buying stuff. You can sell directly into this market place for a profit or you can consider it as one of the best places to generate leads and grow an active customer list. [more about online auctions]

Social Media - Facebook, MySpace, Twitter etc - Millions of users, spending more and more time engaged with this media channel, think its just a thing for the kids? think again. These platforms can potentially add a raving hot list of people falling over themselves to do business with you. [more about social media]

Finally, what about Your Existing Customers? - how many of your customers that haven't bought anything for a while could be re-engaged with an enticing offer on your web site and an ongoing e-communication strategy?
