Congratulations, You have decided that you need a
web site...well I guess that makes you the very last business in
Australia to get one :)
Trouble is
that today there are sooo many options. When I started developing web
sites back in 1997 there wasn't much choice in the design, or the people
who could offer to develop a web site for much under $5000.
Of course lots of things have changed
since then, and there are a myriad of different strategies, technologies
and platforms that you could utilise to develop your web presence. But
some fundamental things remain the same.
The good news is that you can find a 'web site
developer' to build you a basic web site for a couple of hundred
dollars, and yes your nephew who is a computer guru could probably whack
a web site together for you as well.
A web site that is developed effectively can add
significant value to your business. It can add another marketing or
sales channel, it can open up previously unreachable markets and niches
within existing markets, it can provide a way to manage client
relationships, and build a network of 'wild about you' fans and take
your business from low margins and competing on price to demanding a
premium for your service or product.
But here's the rub, you wouldn't let your nephew
design and build your shop front, and you wouldn't expect to bring about
fundamental changes to your business for a couple of hundred dollars,
would you?

works (and how it doesn't) and what you hope to achieve with it. Then I
am going to tell you about some of the things you can use the Internet
for to help you get there.
Next, I am going to prepare for you a web site
development plan that will entail a staged approach to building your web
presence and integrate it into your business marketing. If you like what
you see you are going to pay me a monthly retainer to engage the
strategy.
